Enhancing Health Sector Cybersecurity in Albania

Health Sector Cyber Training in Albania

CRDF Global successfully supported a health sector cybersecurity training event titled, “Attack Surface Hardening for Albanian Health Sector” in Tirana, Albania.

This training, which was developed in partnership with the National Cybersecurity Authority of Albania (AKSK), was attended by 33 participants onsite and 434 online from across the health sector and faculty.

The primary objective of the event was to enhance participants’ understanding and capability in various aspects of cybersecurity in the context of health sector in Albania and the greater Western Balkan region, to increase resilience against cyber threats, offer best practices guidelines, and interactive threat prevention and response exercises.

Enhancing the cybersecurity within Albania’s health sector is critical to ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive patient information and healthcare services. As healthcare systems increasingly adopt digital technologies and interconnected platforms, they become more vulnerable to cyber threats such as data breaches, ransomware attacks, and unauthorized access. Strengthening cybersecurity measures in this sector involves implementing robust data protection protocols, continuous network monitoring, employee training on cyber hygiene, and establishing rapid incident response capabilities.

The team included CRDF’s Zuzanna Grüner, Senior Project Officer and Katerina Razinkova, Travel and Logistics Specialist.
