CRDF Global Shares Findings at International Pandemic Sciences Conference

CRDF Global is pleased to be participating in the International Pandemic Sciences Conference 2026 in Singapore, where our Technical Specialist, Sereen Iweir, presented a poster titled “From Frameworks to Functionality: A Regional Assessment of CRO and CP-CRO Detection and Response in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.”

The poster highlighted findings from a regional assessment examining capacities for the detection and response to the highly resistant bacterial species: carbapenem-resistant organisms (CRO) across countries in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. The focus group discussions—held with ministries of health and national reference lab officials, and conducted in collaboration with CDC—identified strengths, gaps, and opportunities to strengthen laboratory systems, surveillance, infection prevention and control, antimicrobial stewardship, and multisectoral collaboration to enhance preparedness and response to antimicrobial resistance.

The goal of this project is to use these findings to advocate for, develop and implement targeted interventions and policies in participant countries, ensuring sustainable solutioning tailored to the region and each country’s context.

This work reflects CRDF Global’s commitment to strengthening global health security through technical collaboration, capacity building, and evidence-based approaches that support resilient health systems and regional partnerships.

We are grateful for the opportunity to engage with global experts and collaborators, share lessons learned, and contribute to advancing solutions for antimicrobial resistance and pandemic preparedness.
