CRDF Global Completes Successful “Train the Trainer” Program for Educators

On September 20, 2025, CRDF Global hosted the final mini-Capture the Flag (CTF) competition, concluding the “Train the Trainer” program, one of the engagements of the Capacity-Building for Cybersecurity in Ukraine project. The event served as a final assessment of the participants’ knowledge and practical skills.
Over the course of the three-month program, 13 training sessions were held, with 20 representatives from Ukrainian universities taking part. The participants completed over 20 practical simulations on the Cyber Range UA platform and created 10 original training simulations, which have now been integrated into the national cyber range.
The program included three mini-CTF competitions where participants reinforced their knowledge through realistic scenarios. The final mini-CTF was the culmination of this process, confirming the readiness of the educators to implement the skills they’d learned at their institutions. A significant result of the program is the practical application of this new knowledge: the National Aviation University has already launched Ukraine’s first academic discipline built on the practical modules of the Cyber Range UA platform. This is a real-world example of the transformation of cybersecurity education.
The program was implemented in partnership with Global Affairs Canada and CRDF Global, with support from technology partner Cyber Unit Technologies and the State University “Kyiv Aviation Institute.”
“Train the Trainer” has laid the groundwork for a new ecosystem of educators who not only teach but also continuously expand the practical base of the national cyber range, contributing to the enhancement of Ukraine’s cyber resilience.
