From March 18 – 20, 2025, the USDA National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (USDA NBAF) will host a Gap Analysis Workshop on Japanese Encephalitis Virus (JEV). This workshop will be held at the Pullman in Luang Prabang, Laos.
The JEV Gap Analysis Workshop will bring together leading scientists from around the world to discuss current research on JEV, with a focus on identifying knowledge gaps. The workshop will identify critical knowledge and research gaps related to JEV in order to contribute to ongoing research advancement in the field. Research sections include insect vectors and animal hosts, vaccinations, virus dynamics, diagnostics, and epidemiology. Within each section, three scenarios will be discussed: pre-outbreak preparation, outbreak response, and endemic transmission.

An anticipated outcome of the workshop is the publication of a gap analysis paper in a peer-reviewed journal summarizing key discussions and future research priorities.

The workshop will be held at the Pullman Luang Prabang, Ban Pong Wanh, 06000 Luang Prabang, Laos.
Luang Prabang International Airport (LPQ) - Located approximately 4 kilometers from the center of Luang Prabang, LPQ is one of the three international airports in Laos.
There is a room block for the workshop at the Pullman Luang Prabang. Attendees are responsible for booking and payment of accommodation for the workshop.
A room block is available at the Pullman Luang Prabang at a rate of $184 per night.
Are any meals provided during the Workshop?
On March 18-20, lunch and two coffee breaks will be provided during the Workshop. Meeting organizers are in the planning stages for a banquet dinner in the evening of March 20th.
