As part of its efforts to promote and support international collaboration in science and technology, CRDF Global is pleased to announce the 2017 Visiting Scholar Fellowship Program at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) that aims to facilitate collaborative research projects between Saudi and U.S. researchers and encourage academic exchange between the Saudi and the U.S. science community.

CRDF Global will support fellowships for U.S. researchers to travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for one semester (starting January 2018) to participate in collaborative research with a KAUST Research Center. During their visits, selected U.S. researchers will integrate into the research team, complete a proposed collaborative research project and work to create a long term relationship between KAUST and their U.S. institution. The selected U.S. researchers will also receive funding to support the travel of one of their graduate students to visit and complete research at KAUST during the fellowship. This graduate student funding will be limited to approximately one week.

This program focuses specifically on U.S. researchers in the natural sciences and engineering, ranging from senior investigators to post-doctoral researchers with at least two years of experience in their current U.S. lab. Applications must propose basic research within the scope of one or more KAUST research center ( ) activities. Eligible KAUST research centers for visiting scholar fellowships include:

  • Clean Combustion Research Center
  • Computational Bioscience Research Center
