Armenian Researchers to Receive Travel Grants

Dec 13, 2011

The National Foundation of Science and Advanced Technologies (NFSAT), and CRDF Global competitively selected seven applicants to receive grants under the 2011 Travel Fellowship Program (TFP). The 2011 TFP provides an opportunity to Armenian young researchers to live and work in a new environment. This travel fellowship will allow grantees to grow professionally and make contacts with their international colleagues, and to promote further collaboration between Armenian and U.S. scientists. Upon returning to Armenia, the grantees will be eligible to apply for follow-on awards of $5,000 each for a period of up to one year to continue developing collaboration with their U.S. partners.

The grants are awarded after the organizers arrange for a two-part international peer review: written reviews of individual proposals by external experts followed by Armenian and U.S. panel reviews by scientists to compare the results of the written reviews. The most meritorious proposals were determined by this objective process. As in all CRDF Global and NFSAT competitions, all applicants will automatically receive anonymous written peer review comments on their applications.

For the 2011 TFP, resources are being provided by CRDF Global. CRDF Global’s funds were made available via funding from the U.S. Department of State.
